As long as I can remember I've been interested in drawing, and graphics in general. At a very young age I can remember having the floor of my parents' living room scattered with pages and pages of drawings of random things: trucks, cars, hockey players, buildings, anything that you can think of. It got so bad that my mother started buying me large scrapbooks that I could draw in so that all of my drawings could be in one place.
Around the age of thirteen I became heavily involved in my hockey, basketball, and volleyball, so my time to draw and be creative with the pen became very limited. By the time I was in my grade 11 year in high school problems with my knees prevented my from continuing on with my sports. It was at this time that I started to mess around with MS Paint on my oh-so powerful Pentium 120 running Windows '95. Before I came in contact with Paint I had dabbled in making illustrations with the BASIC computer language, I made a number of drawings for my Introduction to Computers class in my freshman year of high school. I became fairly proficient with Paint and when I entered my first year of university I was introduced to a copy of Adobe Photoshop 4.0. And as they say, the rest is history.
At that time I was enrolled in a Bachelor of Computer Science program at the University of New Brunswick, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Since then I have changed directions a bit and in September 2004 I completed my diploma in graphic and web design from the Center For Distance Education. I was also honoured with being given President's List status for having an overall aggregate of over 90% with no mark below 85%.
I'm currently living in St. Albert, Alberta (on the north side of Edmonton) with my wonderful fiance. I'm working on some freelance projects as well as working full time as a web developer. Anyone that would to discuss a project, whether it be contract or full time can send me an email or use the information provided on the contact page to contact me.
jeffsmithdesigns.com is a place for me to showcase my art for prospective employers and clients as well as to show colleagues my work. The logo of jeffsmithdesigns.com is not actually an "H" as some people may believe. It is actually a medieval zodiac rune. In this case the symbol stands for "Pisces" which is my birth sign.
